Through the CarKey function, you can use your iPhone or Apple Watch to unlock and start the car. This article introduces the specific usage of the CarKey function in detail.
Preparation before use
To ensure that your car is compatible with Apple Wallet, iPhone must be upgraded to iOS 13.6 and above. To use Apple Watch as a car key, you need to have Apple Watch Series 5 with watchOS 6.2.8 or later.
Log in to your Apple ID on the iPhone, and the iPhone must be password-protected in order to use Face ID or Touch ID or enter a password for authentication.

How to add car key to iPhone/Apple Watch
Make sure that the car is associated with the account provided by the car manufacturer, open the car manufacturer’s app on the iPhone, and then follow the instructions to set the key this app will then be transferred to the Apple wallet, click the “Continue” button and follow the on-screen Instructions, put your iPhone on the key reader, and then wait for the iPhone to pair with the car, and click “Finish” after the pairing is complete.
Apple Watch: Open the Watch App on the iPhone, scroll down and select “Wallet and Apple Pay” in the “My Watch” tab, and click the “Add” button next to the card corresponding to the car key.
How to use iPhone/Apple Watch to open the door and start the car?
When adding the car key to the “Wallet”, the “Quick Mode” is turned on by default on the iPhone and Apple Watch. After setting the car key in “Wallet”, please bring your iPhone or Apple Watch close to the door handle, and the door will automatically unlock if you want to leave the car, you can move your Apple device close to the door handle to lock the car.
To start the car, place your iPhone in the car’s key reader or place your Apple Watch close to the key reader and press the car’s start button.
Note that if you turn off “Quick Mode”, you need to verify by Face ID or fingerprint when opening the door or starting.
