There are many castles that must be visited throughout Japan. There are many castles built from ancient to modern times. Himeji Castle is located in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture. It is also named a World Cultural Heritage and is known as “Japan’s №1 City”. The eaves of Himeji Castle spread its wings gracefully like an egret, so it is affectionately called “Egret Castle”.

Nijo Castle Witnesses Japanese History
The construction of Nijo Castle for 400 has witnessed major events in Japanese history. Nijo Castle was built in 1603 under the order of Ieyasu Tokugawa, the founder of the Edo Shogunate (1603–1867) and the first general. After the long Sengoku period, Ieyasu Tokugawa unified Japan and led Japan into an era of peace and prosperity that lasted 260 years. Osaka Castle is located in Osaka Castle Park. It is also known as the three most famous cities in Japanese history along with Nagoya Castle and Kumamoto Castle.
The original Osaka Castle was first built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi on the site of the Honganji Temple in Osaka Castle in 1583. It has a history of more than 400 years.
Famous Nagoya Castle
Nagoya Castle, as one of the best traditional castles in Japan, has been designated as a special national historic site and has the same value as a national treasure. Construction of Songjiang Castle began in 1607 and was completed in 1611. It was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s subordinate Yoshiharu Horio. The present Matsue Castle is one of only 12 ancient cities in Japan, the second largest, third tallest, and sixth oldest among all the ancient cities in Japan.
Hirosaki Castle is part of the castle tower and Hirosaki Park. It was planned and constructed after Tsugaru Weixin completed the unification of the Tsugaru area in 1603 AD. The current castle tower is a three-story building rebuilt in 1810, and today it serves as the Hirosaki Castle Historical Museum that exhibits historical relics from the Tsugaru Somasa period.
